Active and Passive DisplayPort Adapter Cables

Tripp Lite by Eaton’s DisplayPort (DP) cables are available in two connector formats: standard size and Mini DisplayPort. DisplayPort is a digital display interface standard put forth by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) that defines a digital audio/video interconnect intended to be used between computers and display monitors or computers and home theater systems.

An adapter/converter is needed when sending DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort signals from a computer or other video source to a VGA, DVI, or HDMI monitor. The choice of an active adapter or passive adapter depends on the type of signal from the video source, how many monitors are being used, and whether or not the video source supports dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++) output.
