An ASIC driver incorporated into the display simplifies design effort significantly. The smart displays are LED technology-based and are extremely reliable with a long life-expectancy. They are resistant to extreme weather conditions and to mechanical vibration and shock, making them suitable for industrial applications where maintenance resources are scarce. They are also suitable for consumer markets where the need for aesthetics and product differentiation provides a competitive edge to the customers’ end products. Broadcom is currently the only supplier in the world for smart displays.

Features
  • Seven to eight bus lines for data
  • Available in plastic package (HDLx-1414/2416/3416, HDSP-21xx, HDSP-25xx at 5 V); ceramic/glass package (HDSP-213x at 5 V)
  • Fixed character map 128 ASCII with sixteen user-definable characters stored into programmable ROM
  • Character flashing (individual) and blinking of all characters to highlight message
  • Scrolling capability; smooth information presentation
  • Eight brightness level control with pre-set startup value for lower power consumption and to achieve best viewing clarity with maximum contrast
  • Blank function display
  • Self-test function to check IC driver and LED functionality (for eight-character displays)
  • Stackable in x- and y-direction, making them ideal for high character count displays
