The LTC3895 was developed because Linear Technology wanted to create a high input voltage non-isolated DC/DC controller that can eliminate the need for bulky external surge suppression devices and for it to operate continuously from high input voltages. Targeted applications are primarily transportation, which includes automotive, truck, heavy equipment, railway and avionics. Other targeted areas are telecom, datacom, and distributed power architectures.
